Town board discusses spring preparations
Kent’s police force will receive two laptops courtesy of money obtained through the County’s Stop DWI program. The purchase of the two Panasonic computers was authorized by the Kent Town Board on Monday night, and the town will receive reimbursement from the Stop DWI program, which shares fines collected from DWI enforcement. Patterson FD chaplain honored on his 104th birthday
Patterson Fire Department Life Member S. Del Goldsmith has lived a fulfilled life.
On the occasion of his 104th birthday last Friday members of the fire department traveled to Glen Arden, his senior residence in Orange County, to help the fire department’s Chaplain Emeritus celebrate the big day with a large sheet cake bearing the department’s logo. Full Story

Teen defensive driving class offered at Mahopac Library
Driving, like any other skill, is something we typically get better at over time—with practice. If this weren’t the case, 16-year-olds wouldn’t have higher accident rates than drivers of any other age. When you factor in additional distractions such as cell phones and other inexperienced passengers, practicing safe defensive driving becomes that much more difficult. Full Story
Book covers created by Mahopac Middle School students
The students on Team 7D at Mahopac Middle school were recently given an assignment to “sell” a book to their classmates. Their teacher, Ms. Fran Gordon, wasn’t expecting her students to collect any money— she was encouraging them to “advertise” their book in a way that would encourage other students to read it. Brilliant minds
Three Brewster High School students have taken top honors in the Science Horizons INTEL Fair, where 800 students from throughout New York and Connecticut competed.
