MAHOPAC - When Northport (LI) took on Mahopac last Thursday on the turf at Mahopac High School, it was the kind of game where you figured the last team to have the ball would walk off with the win. BREWSTER - The Brewster High lacrosse team put itself in good position for a comeback last Saturday at rain-soaked Putnam Valley. But with a chance to make it an 8-7 game in the fourth, the Bears were unable to stop the Tigers offense when it counted most, and ended up on the short end of a 9-6 decision. Full Story

CARMEL - The loss of speedy leadoff hitter John Kiechle, as well as Sal Palmiero and Frank Nagel, will be something the Carmel High baseball team will have to overcome. MAHOPAC - The Mahopac High girls lacrosse team picked up a 15-10 victory over Pearl River last Wednesday to open the 2009 season. But the Indians came back with back-to-back losses - falling 5-3 to Lindenhurst (LI) Saturday, before losing 17-13 to Nanuet Monday. Full Story

BREWSTER - The Brewster High girls lacrosse team held a two-goal lead with 6:35 to play last Wednesday against Greeley, but the Quakers rallied for three late goals to steal a 13-12 decision from the Bears in a game played at Brewster. Full Story
Bears Play Well in Opener, Fall to Lakeland
BREWSTER - The Lakeland High baseball team got all the scoring it needed by the second inning Monday, and held on to edge visiting Brewster, 2-1, in a non-league game in Shrub Oak. The Hornets (4-0) pushed a run home in the first, then Brian Simmons picked up what turned out to be the gamewinning RBI single in the bottom of the second. Full Story

MAHOPAC - The Mahopac High baseball team held a 3-1 lead after four innings over Kennedy Catholic last Wednesday, but the Gaels bounced back with two in the fifth, and got a game-winning home run in the top of the seventh to hand Mahopac a 4-3 setback in a game played on Indian turf. Full Story

Brewster Students Sign National Letters of Intent
Three seniors at Brewster High School signed letters of intent Tuesday to attend colleges and universities in September on athletic scholarships. The trio—Lauren O'Kelley, Sarah Hogan and Christy Bak—were called "exceptional" by the school's Director of Athletics Lance Pliego. Full Story

Not exactly what you'd call sporting stuff, but I did don a pair of rabbit ears (from the local dollar store) Easter morning as Mama and I drove up the hill to take an Easter basket loaded with goodies, and a couple of decorated bags filled with clothes and toys for our Grandkid's, Kevin and Lyle.
