Firefighters Save Friendly's in Carmel
Firefighters averted a calamity at Friendly's Restaurant in Carmel Wednesday when smoke was reported inside the wood frame structure around 7:45 a.m. Carmel Police arrived on the scene minutes after a 911 call was received and confirmed a heavy concentration of smoke inside the building located at Route 6 and Stoneleigh Avenue. MAHOPAC - After playing North Rockland to a 4-4 tie at halftime Monday, the Mahopac High girls lacrosse team picked up the intensity in the second half and pulled away for an 11-7 victory over the Red Raiders in a game played at Mahopac High School in wintry conditions. Full Story

On May 1, 1921, in response to the May Day celebrations of Communists, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars held a rally at Union Station in New York to promote American patriotism in the face of threats to our national identity and founding principles.
