Loitering Day Laborers in Mahopac Cause Concern
On any given morning 100 Hispanic day laborers congregate along Route 6N in downtown Mahopac seeking employment. Police have reported no cases of unruliness yet Mahopac business owners are concerned about large groups of any individuals be they teenagers or day laborers gathering on the narrow sidewalks outside their front doors. Ciralli Earns Eagle Scout Rank
Robert C. Ciralli of Carmel, NY recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Robert, a 10th grader at the Wooster School in Danbury, CT, is a 16-year-old Boy Scout with Patterson Troop 440. The troop, based out of the Presbyterian Church of Patterson, NY, is part of the Muscoot District of the Westchester-Putnam Council of the BSA. Full Story
New Operating Hours at State Parks
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservat ion today announced changes in the 2009-10 operating schedules at a number of parks and historic sites in the Taconic Region. The changes reflect a reduction in state spending at parks and historic sites. Full Story
