Program Al lows for Conf ident ial Talk Among Teens
One hundred seventy teenagers enrolled in high schools across Putnam County and vicinity traveled to Kent Cliffs Monday and participated in the 15th annual Putnam Youth Forum. Held at the remote Clear Pool Camp, young people discussed a myriad of issues in a confidential setting where participants asked questions without fear of anyone poking fun. Full Story
Hannaford's Helps Putnam Schools Raise Money
Fourteen schools throughout Putnam County have received over $5,000 through the Hannaford Supermarket Helping Schools program. The grocery chain allows shoppers to raise money for activities and equipment such as computers, sports gear and playground apparatus by simply purchasing eligible products. Full Story

A steady rain failed to deter the enthusiasm of fifth graders attending the Pequenakonck (PQ) Elementary School in North Salem when planting a vegetable garden and more than 100 shrubs on the school grounds. Full Story

Faculty, staff and students at Garden Street School in Brewster have a green thumb as rich brown earth is being created thanks to a unique composting project. The initiative began eight years ago when members of the school family decided to convert an empty courtyard into a garden. Full Story
