'Pac Laxmen Pick Up Three Wins, Improve to 7-4
MAHOPAC - The Mahopac High lacrosse team picked up three wins last week, topping Suffern, 16-3, Saturday, after rolling over Clarkstown South, 12-1, Thursday, and Brewster, 11-4, the prior Tuesday.
Saturday at the Suffern Middle School, the Indians had no problem controlling play, and upped their record to 7-4 with the victory. The Mounties fell to 5-5.
John Brandofino led the Indians with four goals and two assists, Tyler Perrelle added a goal and handed out four assists, Chase Thompson had four goals, Okie Bernabo came up with two goals and added a pair of assists, TJ Foley had a goal and an assist, John Bota, Anthony Berardis, Bob Fatone and Mike Sanicola each scored and Kevin Carey had an assist.
Indians keeper John McGuigan stopped 10 shots on goal, and Matt Macias and Anthony Lopez each had one save for Mahopac. Brian Bristol stopped five shots on goal for Suffern.
Two days earlier against Clarkstown South (5-5), Brandofino found the net four times, and dished out four assists. Perrelle added five goals and an assist, Foley went two and one, Bota had a goal and Thompson and Sanicola each had one assist.
MgGuigan stopped nine shots in three quarters for the 'Pac, and Macias and Lopez each had one save. Luke Hagggerty had nine saves for South.
The prior Tuesday against Brewster (3-7), Brandofino had five goals and one assist, Perrelle had four goals and an assist, Bernabo added four assists, and Foley and Berardis each had one goal.
McGuigan had 11 saves in net for the 'Pac, and Jason Leser had five saves for Brewster.
Indians coach Dave Haddeland said his team got big contributions from several players, something the coaching staff has been stressing.
"We moved the ball well and played like a team," Haddeland said. "Brandofino and Perrelle are our main offensive threats, and we want them to get their teammates involved… we're doing a good job of that right now. Both of them have been playing well and getting others going."
Mahopac travels to John Jay today (Thursday) at 7:30 p.m., and the Indians host White Plains Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
