Gus Conrad

Gus (Augustine) Conrad of Brewster, NY, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Danbury, CT, at the age of 71. Mr. Conrad was born in Ashville, PA, on Jan. 20, 1938, son of the late Patrick J. and Mary G. (Illig) Conrad. His family mooved to Brewster in 1952 and he graduated from Brewster High School in 1957. On July 2, 1961, he married Joyce Eastwood in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. Mr. Conrad worked as a supervisor for the New York State Department of Transportation in Carmel for 25 years before riting in 1995, and his family said he loved bowling. Besides his wife, Joyce, of Brewster, Mr. Conrad is survived by two sons, Brian Conrad of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Shawn Conrad of Brewster, NY; two daughters, Wendy Wabshinak of Brewster, NY, and Leslee Mutz of Port Chester, NY; a brother, Fred Conrad of Brewster, NY; two sisters, Arlene Simons and Doris Link, both of Danbury, CT, and seven grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 22, at Beecher Funeral Home. Interment followed in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Conrad's memory may be made to the Brewster Fire Department, 501 North Main St., Brewster, NY 10509.
