District Attorney Adam Levy has cautioned Putnam's over-65 set to be wary of scams. Levy delivered the keynote address last Friday before more than 500 "seasoned" citizens who were on hand for the county's 36th Anniversary Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) award luncheon at Sciortino's Restaurant in Brewster. Legislature Makes Appointments
Putnam lawmakers have appointed four people to two advisory boards. By unanimous votes of the ninemember legislature last week, Karl Rohde of Lake Carmel, James Sullivan of Mahopac, and Gil Tarbox of Kent were all named to the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park Advisory Board for terms ending on Dec. 31, 2011. American Legion Hosts Food Drive for Soldiers Abroad
The Sons of the American Legion, Katonah Post 1575, will combine with Mt. Kisco Post 136, to host a food drive benefiting our soldiers abroad. The drive will kickoff at the Legions' annual Memorial Day Parades; May 25th in Katonah and May 29th in Mt. Kisco, and run thru June 13th, the annual Pig Roast Benefit in Katonah. Full Story

Revolutionary War Encampment Comes to Brewster
History came to life for 4th graders at the C.V. Starr Intermediate School in Brewster during a Revolutionary War encampment. The rear of the school property became an 18th century setting last week when children participated in the annual three-day event by raising tents and preparing vegetables that became a delicious soup cooked on an open fire. People came from near and far to the Putnam County Park Sunday when the county's Emerald Association sponsored its 30th annual Feis. Feis is the Irish word for a festival or dance competition that promotes culture and music. More than 750 young women adorned in brightly colored dresses participated in a series of dances.
