Patterson Library
To The Editor:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the staff of the Patterson Library, we want to express our appreciation for the wonderful volunteers, sponsors and supporters for helping to make this year's book sale a great success.
When the Patterson Library realized it had to cancel its annual book sale due to lack of space, Commander Harvey Strode and members of the Putnam Lake VFW generously offered their premises as an alternate site, setting the stage for one of the library's most successful book sales in years, raising more than one thousand dollars in the first five hours of the three day event.
Shoppers from Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess counties & Connecticut took advantage of the great bargains found amongst the thousands of books donated by library patrons. From bestsellers to children's books the sale offered something for everyone, and even provided an opportunity for leftover books to be donated to various community organizations & county agencies including Green Chimneys and the Salvation Army.
Contributing to the success of the sale were The Town of Patterson, The Putnam County Sheriff's Department, and the many local business and professional people in surrounding areas who made generous donations to help underwrite this fundraising event. Proceeds from the sale will go towards the library's efforts to meet the community's increasing need for library services.
