John Neubauer served his community with pride and distinction as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Putnam Hospital Center. For the past three years, the Patterson businessman devoted countless hours each day to the volunteer position and last week turned the gavel over to Keiren Farquhar of Mahopac at an intimate dinner celebrating Neubauer's dedication to duty. Wolf Den 1 and Webeblos Den 3 from Carmel Pack 1 visited the Putnam County Court House on June 8th. Judges Reitz and Rooney gave the boys a tour and discussed Putnam County's history, the court system, and what it takes to be a good citizen. Full Story
Conservatives Back Incumbents
Incumbents seeking reelection in Putnam County this fall have an added boost following endorsement by the county's Conservative Party. The Conservatives met two weeks ago, and, according to party chairman James Maxwell, endorsed Sheriff Donald Smith and Legislators Vincent Tamagna, Mary Conklin, and Dan Birmingham. Full Story
Koran Leaves Trinity Lutheran
The Rev. Kathleen Koran has delivered her final sermon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Southeast, after being appointed as Assistant to the Bishop for Congregations in the Metropolitan New York Lutheran ministry. Pastor Koran came to Putnam from Staten Island in December of 2002, following the tenure of long-term pastor Dr. Henry Maertens, who relocated to Colorado. Full Story
Carmel House Saved From Blaze
A rapid response by the Carmel Fire Department and quick thinking on the part of homeowner Tom Lulgjuiaj averted tragedy when the Gleneida Ridge house caught fire last week. As Chief Mark Earle and his men were responding, Lulgjuiaj ran to the rear of the wood frame home and grabbed a garden hose and began to knock down the inferno as apparatus pulled up Gross to the scene. Sticky Paws from Pawling A 46-year-old Pawling woman is facing a lengthy state prison term for allegedly stealing from her former employer. Kent Police reported the arrest last week of Maria Nardone in connection with the theft of numerous Visa gift cards and Verizon phone cards from the Hess Mart on Route 52. Full Story
