Eileen Adorno

Eileen Adorno (nee Winter; Lubkeman) 59, of Taylorsville, NC, formerly of the Putnam County area, passed away Saturday, May 9th, 2009, after a valiant, 3-year battle with breast cancer. She was born October 11th, 1949, to Wilbur and Helen Winter, then of Shrub Oak, NY, and was eldest of their seven children. Eileen's formative years were spent in Putnam Valley. She attended St. Columbanus School and Ladycliff Academy HS. She graduated Rockland CC with an Associates Degree in 1969. After dedicating much love, time, and patience to raising her own two children, Kathryn and Michael, in Carmel, NY, Eileen resumed her career and education. She attended Pace U., Pleasantville, NY, and graduated with a Fellowship in 2000, age 50. In NC, Eileen worked for 5yrs with Mitchell Gold Co. Locally, she enjoyed over 10yrs with Reader's Digest, and years with PPG, Siemens, Paco Rabanne, and Arms Acres. Eileen volunteered many years as an EMT with the Kent Cliffs FD, as a Girl Scout leader, and as a soccer mom. She was an accomplished seamstress, short-hand and typist, swimmer, golfer, gardener, and cook. Eileen is predeceased by her father, Wilbur Winter, brother Robert Winter, and mother- in-law Sunday Adorno. Eileen is survived by her loving husband of over 20yrs, Alfred Adorno; mother Helen Cassidy Winter of PV, NY; fatherin law Ralph Adorno, Sr; children Kathryn and Jim Gernert and Michael and Purity Lubkeman; grandsons Jason and Matthew; and granddaughter Ellen Marie Gernert all of Austin, TX; siblings John Winter of AZ, Susan and Frank Kotzur of Kent Cliffs, NY, Holly Bidwell of Dover Plains, NY, William Winter and Patricia Kozloski Fries of PV, NY; siblings-inlaw Ralph and June Adorno of PV, NY, Don and Sunday Gelunas of TN, Bruce and Lynn Adorno of NC, Lisa Adorno, Daniel Adorno, and John and Rima Adorno of Yorktown, NY. She is further survived by 2 aunts, 2 uncles, over 20 nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other life-time relatives and close friends, all dear to her heart and always on her mind. Her strength, guidance and love will be deeply missed by all. I n honor of Eileen, family, friends and colleagues are invited to attend memorial services, Saturday, June 27th, 2009 10 am.
