Weekend Art Exhibit Thursday, June 25

The exhibition Voyages: The Art of Evelyn Metzger will be on view at the James W. Palmer III Gallery at Vassar College from Thursday, June 25, through Friday, July 31, with an opening reception on June 25, 56:30pm. The paintings of alumna Evelyn Metzger (1911-2004), Vassar Class of 1932, span most of the 20th century. As the daughter of wealthy New York socialites who had a passion for art, she grew up traveling extensively to study the great art of the world.

The next four decades saw both developments in her personal life, as she became a mother and grandmother, and tremendous developments in her art as she continually experimented with realism, Impressionism, Neo- Impressionism, abstraction, Fauvism, and Cubism, with subjects ranging from portraits of family members to religious and genre scenes.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations at Vassar should contact the Office of Campus Activities at (845) 437-5370. Without sufficient notice, appropriate space and/or assistance may not be available. Directions to the Vassar campus are available at www.vassar.edu/directions.

The Usual . . .

Armchair Actors Monthly

Would you enjoy an evening out of the house? Interested in theater but don't have the time to commit to a full production? Then, come join The Armchair Actors, Brewster Theater Company's monthly play reading group.

The Armchair Actors meet at the Brewster Public Library on Main Street in Brewster at 7pm on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Each month the group reads a full length play, scenes, or a selection of one-act plays. Plays are usually chosen by the group coordinator; however local playwrights are also invited to share their original works with the group. This is a great opportunity for writers to hear their words expressed out loud.
