Violet Degnan Blooms as a Writer

Violet Degnan, a Brewster resident and incoming Wooster School 9th grader, recently completed a stellar 8th grade. During the Wooster School Middle School Awards ceremony, Violet was awarded the Emily Bronte Writing Prize and the Art Recognition Award.

During May, The Promising Young Writers recognized Violet as one of the top eighth grade writers in the state of Connecticut. Nationwide, 487 students were nominated and 163 were chosen as outstanding writers. Each participant submitted two pieces. The pieces were judged on content, purpose, tone ,word choice, organization, development, and style. Three students from Connecticut were awarded certificates.

The Promising Young Writers was established by NTCE to stimulate and recognize the writing talents, and to emphasize the importance of writing skills, among 8th graders.

Violet attends Wooster School in Danbury, CT. Wooster is a Pre-K through 12 Independent School.
