This past May, longtime Putnam Valley resident Dawn Powell announced her intention to challenge incumbent Town Supervisor Bob Tendy in next November's election. No stranger to town hall, she served as the personal assistant to former Supervisor Sam Davis, albeit under a cloud, because at the time she was also his domestic partner. Full Story

Inferno destroys attorney's large home
A raging inferno has destroyed a 5,000-square-foot home belonging to a prominent Westchester attorney in Southeast. The blaze was reported early Saturday when the Putnam 911 Dispatch Center received several calls reporting a blaze at 12 Pine View Drive, a threestory wood frame dwelling located in a hilly subdivision off Guinea Road in Southeast. Mahopac
Mahopac man killed when struck by car
A Mahopac man was struck and killed early Sunday as he was attempting to cross Route 6N in downtown Mahopac. Carmel Police identified the victim as Matthew Denmark, 21. Police Chief Michael Johnson said the tragedy took place at 3:50am when the pedestrian was crossing the street in the vicinity of the Mahopac Marina. Full Story
