Putnam Pot Plantation Spotted by State Police
A "pot" plantation consisting of 403 five- and six-foot-tall marijuana plants has been commandeered. Brewster State Police reported the confiscation of the illegal contraband Tuesday seized from an abandoned farm off Pugsley Road in a remote section of Southeast. Full Story
Ball Hauls in the Cash
Assemblyman Greg Ball has raised more money than Congressman John Hall in the hotly contested race for the 19th Congressional District. Ball, a Republican whose 99th District encompasses Carmel, Southeast, and Patterson as well as Pawling, North Salem, Somers, and Yorktown, collected $180,213 from 1,541 individuals across the country. County Loses More Jobs
If job losses affecting Putnam residents are any indicator, the recession is far from over. The NYS Labor Department released its monthly report last week, indicating that 18,300 jobs were lost throughout the Hudson Valley in June, upping the total to more than 746,000 people who have become unemployed in the ninecounty region in the past year.
