Putnam Arts Council Offers Special Program for Kids
Thanks to the Putnam Arts Council, three dozen boys and girls are using their creative talent this summer. Children aged six to 13 have spent the past two weeks at the Tilly Foster Farm in Southeast, where, from 10am to 2pm each day, the youngsters have created a variety of drawings, pottery, 3-D designs, and paintings under the watchful eye of PAC staff. Putnam County Land Trust Seeks Members for Board
The Putnam County Land Trust is seeking candidates for its Board. In addition to attending monthly board meetings, candidates need to be able to contribute a minimum of two hours each month to help the organization. Great Minds, Drunk Illegal Aliens Think Alike The epidemic is spreading. Brewster State Police arrested two illegal aliens for DWI within a half hour of each other in the greater Southeast area. The incidents took place on Saturday morning starting at 2:15am. Troopers George Pearce and Vincent Garcia stopped a car on Route 121 that was being driven erratically. Full Story
Bondi Says No to Taxpayer Revolt
County Executive Robert Bondi has vetoed a Putnam legislative decision to refrain from paying the Metropolitan Transportation Authority a "single penny" for the state's recently enacted MTA Mobility Tax that will cost businesses in the commuter region millions of dollars. Full Story

Carmel Café Strikes New Note
Dave and Yingliu Wallace launched their new 12 Notes Café and Chinese Restaurant to great fanfare. Opening day included a two-hour free lunch offer that had customers lining up outside the new establishment. The couple, now married for seven years, combined their loves of Chinese food and coffeehouse culture into one of the most unusual eateries in Putnam. Full Story

Sgt. Szabo Graduates from FBI Academy
Sheriff's Department Sgt. Michael Szabo calls his graduation from the FBI National Academy the "pinnacle" of his law enforcement career. Sgt. Szabo, a 15-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department, attended the 237th session of the academy that included law enforcement officials from all 50 states as well as four branches of the military and 23 foreign countries.
