Joan Joyce Mancini

Mancini, Joan Joyce, age 77, of Mahopac, NY, formerly of Purdys, NY, died Friday, July 24, 2009. She was the wife of Anthony ‘Tony’ Mancini.

Mrs. Mancini was born on June 3, 1932 in Bronx, NY to John and Catherine (Joyce) Busher. She graduated from Somers High School and the Berkley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY. Mrs. Mancini became secretary to the Vice President of CBS in Manhattan following school, but not for very long before her husband ‘to be’ swept her off her feet!

Joan married Tony on November 29, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Church in Croton Falls, NY.

Tony and Joan together owned and operated the Whistle Stop restaurant in Brewster for 22 years. They ran The Circus nightclub in Newburgh,

NY, prior to that and the Village Barn restaurant in Mahopac, NY, in the late 1950s until the early 1970s.

Besides her husband Tony of 56 years, Mrs. Mancini is survived by her two daughters, Gail Kinkler and her husband James of Brewster, NY, and Joy Klvana and her husband Michael of Sherman, CT, a brother, John Busher of Hempstead, NC, and 4 grandchildren, Carly and Jed Kinkler and Zak and Zoe Klvana.

A funeral service was held on Monday, July 27, 2009, at 7pm at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY. A private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
