William Heffron, 89, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of New York, passed away July 25, 2009 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. Mr. Heffron was born on December 8, 1919, in New York, NY, to William B. and Madeline Heffron. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 31 at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseo Del Norte, Tucson, AZ 85704 services starting at 11am with Father Troutman officiating. Burial will follow the services at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
Mr. Heffron was a Deputy Sheriff at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department in Carmel. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York, N,Y a member of the Knights of Columbus, restaurant owner/retired, member of the Southwest Woodcarvers Association, wrote and published a book on carving Kachinas, taught Kachina carving at Pima Community College, loved reading and working on his computer, loved to hunt and fish and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Heffron, sons William G. Heffron of Stormville, NY, John K. Heffron of Thatcher, AZ, daughters Elaine Cirni of Eloy, AZ, Lynn Griffis of Glenview, IL, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
