Joan Young Pulver Burgess

Joan Young Pulver Burgess, age 80, widow of Wilson (Bill) Pulver, formerly of Brewster, NY, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2009. She was the wife of Dan King Burgess of Pt. St. Lucie, FL.

Mrs. Burgess was born September 27, 1928 in NYC the daughter of the late George W. and Lillian (Coursen) Young. She married Wilson D. Pulver on Nov. 14, 1948. He died Nov. 12, 1994. She married Dan King Burgess on Jan. 21, 1998 in Pt. St. Lucie, FL. She had lived in Brewster for over 60 years and had been employed at the Putnam Hospital Center as a medical unit secretary. While in Brewster she was a member of the First Methodist Church and later attended the First Congregational Church of Pt. St. Lucie. She also had been employed as the club house director for the Wynne Corp. of Spanish Lakes in Pt. St. Lucie.

In addition to her husband Dan of Pt. St. Lucie, Mrs. Burgess is survived by one daughter Sharon Pulver Miller and her husband, Dale, of Hatfield, PA, two sons Lawrence Pulver and his wife, Joyce, of Brewster and Keith Pulver and his wife, Lynn, of Austin, TX, and seven grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen, Jonathan, Christopher, Jeremy, Bryan, and Alyson. She is also survived by two great grandchildren,

Carter Wilson and Dominic. Joan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

A funeral service was held at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY, on Wednesday August 5, 2009. Interment will take place in Northville, NY, on August 7 at 11am. Donations in her memory may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 Indian St, Stuart, Fl. 34997.
