O’Connell allows no base runners in game against Nanuet
MAHOPAC – The Mahopac Warriors 16U baseball team got a rare performance last Saturday, as Kevin O’Connell pitched a perfect game in a 6-0 victory over Nanuet in a New York Amateur Baseball Association game played at Nanuet.

O’Connell went all seven innings and threw 71 pitches, allowing no runs, no hits, and no base runners. He struck out three.
“He was very efficient,” Mahopac coach Roman Catalino said. “He got behind 3-0 a couple of times, but got out of it… The last play of the game was a running catch made by Ed Kelly in right field. And his teammates played great behind him. He was definitely outstanding.”
Rob Catalino had two RBI in the win, and Dan Ornstein, James Adamec and John Kernan each had one RBI.
Mahopac improved to 10-5 on the season, while Nanuet fell to 4-11.
In game two against Nanuet, Mahopac dropped an 11-2 decision, with Kelly taking the loss on the mound.
Adamec and Kernan each drove in a run in the loss.
The Warriors picked up a 3-1 victory over Wappingers Sunday at RCK, with David Doyle earning the win for the ‘Dogs.
Gus Johnson drove in all three runs for Mahopac, and went 2-for-2.
Last Thursday at Peckham Field in Patterson, Mahopac topped the Catskill Cougars, 6-5, with Kelly earning the win.
Vincent D’Ambrosio drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Kernan had two RBI, and Victor Medina, Kelly, and John Swayne each had an RBI in the win.
The prior Tuesday at Liberty HS, Mahopac beat the Cougars, 9-2.
O’Connell picked up the victory on the mound, and Ornstein had two RBI in the win. Kernan, Adamec, and Johnson each drove in a run.
