Frances E. Stephens

Frances E. Stephens of Louisa, VA died Saturday August 1, 2009 in Charlottesville, VA, at the age of 100.

Mrs. Stephens was born Nov. 1, 1908 in New York City, the daughter of the late Thomas and Amelia (Brieger) Carter. She graduated from NYC schools and married Martin Stephens on Feb. 6, 1927, in the Bronx, NY. Mrs. Stephens moved from the Bronx to Carmel in 1939 and became a member of the Drew Methodist Church in Carmel,

and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Stormville

Fire Co. She was also a member of the Sylvan Grange.

Mrs. Stephens was predeceased by her husband Martin. She is survived by her son Martin Stephens of Louisa, VA, two grandchildren, Dorinda Palmer and her husband Bryant of Mineral, VA, Daniel Stephens and his wife Catherine of Conyers, GA, five grandchildren, David Palmer and wife Jannette of Louisa, VA, Stacy Roe and husband Brian of Frederickburg, VA, Kimberly Franklin of Conyers, GA, Kaitlin Todd and husband Zachary of Jacksonville, FL, step-grandson Clay Palmer and wife Christine of Carmel, nine great-grandchildren, David and Cody Palmer, Zachary and Justin Roe, Lillian and Lucas Todd, Wesley Franklin, and step-grandchildren Bryant and Brittany Palmer. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Martin and Douglas Stephens.

Funeral Services were held on August 8 at the Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster. Interment followed at the Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel.
