Mahopac Rolls over Somers to Win WPBA
MAHOPAC – The Mahopac nine-yearold baseball team put the wraps on a stellar summer season last Saturday, whipping Somers, 11-6, in the WPBA championship game at the Crane Road field in Mahopac.
Mahopac, the top seed in the nineyear old division, closes the summer with a record of 21-1. No. 2 Somers finished play at 19-2. Full Story

BREWSTER—The Tri-County Bulldogs 16-year-old baseball team dropped a 5-4 decision to the Mahopac Warriors in a NYABA first-round playoff game last Thursday at Crane Road.

Sox Top New Fairfield in Playoff Opener, Then Fall to Yorktown
KENT—The Kent White Sox 18U baseball team opened last week’s WPBA playoffs with a convincing 8-1 win over New Fairfield, but the Sox followed that performance by dropping a 3-0 decision to Yorktown in Wednesday’s semifinal round.
Both games were played at Ryan Park in Lake Carmel. The White Sox, the top seed in the tournament, closed the summer season at 18-4. Full Story
Vega Wants to Be Olympic Star
Carmel may be sending one of its own to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Sabrina Vega, 13, has been racking up wins in elite gymnastics competitions for two years now. On July 25, she placed second in the Junior Women’s competition at the 2009 Cover Girl Classics. Full Story
