St. John’s will not host day laborer center
At the Carmel candidate forum two weeks ago, both Republican incumbent Ken Schmitt and his Democratic challenger David McKay Wilson said they supported the plan to open a workstation for day laborers in the basement of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac. According to Father Brian Brennan, there are no such plans for a day laborer center at St. John. Father Brennan said that some months ago the idea was casually mentioned in a conversation with town officials, but that it was soon decided not to open such a venue.
