There was standing room only at a meeting of the Putnam Legislature Monday evening when representatives of libraries from Garrison to Patterson protested proposed reductions in library aid contained in County Executive Robert Bondi’s 2010 budget. Full Story
Patterson’s ‘Pinwheel for Peace’
Six hundred seventy five boys and girls enrolled at the Matthew Paterson Elementary School in Patterson joined millions of other children around the globe last Friday by participating in an international art project—Pinwheels for Peace.
The project was begun in 2005 by two art instructors from Florida as a way for students to express their feelings relating to world peace. Full Story
Peter Max Receives Preserve Putnam Award
World recognized artist Peter Max received a warm Putnam County welcome and a special award as well.
Max and his wife Mary visited the Tilly Foster Farm last Friday at the invitation of philanthropist George Whipple and were both presented with a Preserve Putnam Award in recognition of the couple’s dedication to animal rights. Full Story

Greeley Burns Brewster on Big Plays
BREWSTER – The Brewster High football team was hoping for a better performance than this, coming off a season-opening win over Beacon. But week two saw the Bears struggle against Greeley in a 33-12 League ANorth game last Thursday in Chappaqua.
The Quakers (1-1) burned Brewster on big plays with alarming regularity. Greeley scored three times on plays of over 70 yards. Full Story

‘Pac Rolls to 4-1 Win over PV
Indians also drop 4-2 decision to Arlington
MAHOPAC – The Mahopac High boys soccer team had a strong game Monday, beating Putnam Valley, 4-1, in a non-league game played at the Lakeview Elementary School. The Indians also dropped a 4-2 non-league decision to Arlington last Thursday at Mahopac.
The split left the Indians at 4-1-1. Full Story
