Community Service Awards Breakfast is Next Week
Individuals and public service organizations that make a difference in Putnam County will be recognized next week when the Putnam Community Service Network holds its 24th annual Awards Breakfast.
Each year the network, composed of public and private not-for-profit human service providers, recognizes community volunteers, professionals, and organizations that make a difference in the lives of others through their accomplishments.
Award categories include public service, distinguished service, volunteer service, professional career recognition, excellence in communications, outstanding service, community service networking, and a special youth award.
In 2008, Eric Gross received the Lyn and Buzz Burr Excellence in Communications Award for the second time. The award is named in honor of the former publishers of the Putnam County Courier who retired in the mid-1980s.
Other recognitions have been named in honor of the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and Putnam Hospital Center founders Ruth Dain and Fred Dill.
Next Wednesday’s (Sept. 30) affair takes place for the first time at the Clearpool Education Center off Route 301 in Kent Cliffs. The festivities get underway at 9am.
Those wishing to attend are asked to call Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Director Marjorie Keith at 278-6738.
