by Skip Pearlman
CARMEL – The Carmel High girls tennis team dropped two matches last week, falling to Yorktown, 5-2, Monday, after dropping a 6-1 decision to Hen Hud last Thursday.

Monday at Carmel, the Rams (1-1) won two matches against the Cornhuskers.

Marielle Campbell picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles, and Laura Craciun was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in singles play.

“It was a close match,” Rams coach Mike Coughlin said. “There were several good matches. Christine Adams and Brook Severance played well in a loss, and Marielle also played very well.”

Last Thursday at Hen Hud (3-1), Campbell was the only winner for the Rams. Campbell picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory.

“Adams and Severance played well again,” Coughlin said. “And Laura Craciun also had a good match.”

Carmel was scheduled to host Mahopac Friday at 3:45pm.
