Greeley Burns Brewster on Big Plays
BREWSTER – The Brewster High football team was hoping for a better performance than this, coming off a season-opening win over Beacon. But week two saw the Bears struggle against Greeley in a 33-12 League ANorth game last Thursday in Chappaqua.
The Quakers (1-1) burned Brewster on big plays with alarming regularity. Greeley scored three times on plays of over 70 yards. Full Story

MAHOPAC – The Mahopac High boys soccer team had a strong game Monday, beating Putnam Valley, 4-1, in a non-league game played at the Lakeview Elementary School. The Indians also dropped a 4-2 non-league decision to Arlington last Thursday at Mahopac.
The split left the Indians at 4-1-1. Full Story

DeChent serves up game-winner for Putnam Valley
MAHOPAC – Amanda DeChent finished with two goals – including the game-winner – as the Putnam Valley field hockey team edged Mahopac, 3-2, in a non-league game played last Wednesday at Mahopac High School.

Carmel Boys Soccer Struggles in Losses
CARMEL – The Carmel High boys soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Beacon in a non-league game played Monday at Beacon. The Rams also dropped a 2-1 verdict to Yorktown in overtime last Tuesday on the road in a league game.
Thursday at Beacon (2-1), D. Gibson had two goals for the Bulldogs, and the Beacon defense did the rest. Full Story
Mahopac Fail to Get Offense on Track in Loss to John Jay
Showdown with Carmel set for this weekend
MAHOPAC – The Mahopac High football team dropped a 21-0 decision to John Jay of East Fishkill in a League AA-North game played last Thursday night in East Fishkill.
Mahopac’s offense failed to score a point for the second consecutive week – not a good sign for the Indians, especially with Carmel scheduled for this weekend. Full Story

PUTNAM VALLEY - After a nice opening day win over Lincoln Hall, the Putnam Valley football team looked to jump out to a 2-0 record. They would go out for a C-D North league matchup at Haldane Central high school last Thursday and come home with an 18-13 win. Full Story

PUTNAM VALLEY- The Putnam Valley field hockey team snagged two wins this week with an impressive shutout of Pleasantville Thursday by a score of 2-0, and beating Mahopac, 3-2, the day before. Full Story
‘Pac Girls Shut Out North Salem
MAHOPAC – The Mahopac High girls soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over North Salem in a non-league game played last Wednesday at North Salem.
Erin Felix and Denise Palumbo each scored for the Indians (2-1), and Jenna Ruocco added an assist.
Monica D’Ippolito had 13 saves for the Indians, and North Salem’s Victoria Crenson stopped four shots. Full Story
USA Karate Fighter Scores Knockout at Gleason's Gym
Alex Vanasse, knocked out Alex Pendelton From Gleasons Gym in the 1st rd. Alex is training hard for the upcoming NYC Golden Gloves. Alex is fighting again on the NYS Kickboxing and Grappling Championships at Patterson Recreation Center on October 10th . Alex Trains at the John Carlo Boxing located at Patterson Recreation Center. CARMEL – The Carmel High football team held off a furious rally by John Jay of Cross River in the final minutes last Thursday night, and walked off with a 31-28 League AA-North victory to even its record at 1-1. Full Story

The great picture of a fellow Oasis Sportsmen club member’s wife holding a nice weakfish in last week’s column gave the name of the angler as Milly Bennett, wife of George Bennett, from Mahopac. George Bennett did organize the charter boat trip to take 312 Mahopac area kids on the fishing trip of a lifetime, but George’s wife is named Camille. Full Story

Carmel Girls Tennis Team Struggles vs. Yorktown, Hen
CARMEL – The Carmel High girls tennis team dropped two matches last week, falling to Yorktown, 5-2, Monday, after dropping a 6-1 decision to Hen Hud last Thursday.
Monday at Carmel, the Rams (1-1) won two matches against the Cornhuskers.
Marielle Campbell picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles, and Laura Craciun was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in singles play. Full Story
