A wet PHC Reservoir Classic
Receiving their trophies as the overall best men’s and women’s runners in the five-mile race at the recent 22nd Annual Putnam Hospital Center Reservoir Classic are, from left to right, Morgan Meaney (women’s first with a time of 36:35), Pat Leone (men’s first with a time of 31:30), Judy Rubin (women’s second at 37:07), Carlos Venegas (men’s second at 31:58), Shawna Welsh (women’s third at 39:59) and Matthew McKenna (men’s third at 32:05).
Sunday’s rainy weather failed to deter more than 125 hearty souls who participated in the annual Putnam Hospital Center Reservoir Classic.
The 5K race and fun walk-run stepped off on hospital grounds at 9am, and, with the assistance of the Carmel Police Department and Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, proceeded along Stoneleigh Avenue and Drewville Road and back to the hospital for an awards ceremony.

The classic is sponsored each year by the hospital in conjunction with the Carmel-Kent Lions Club and the Taconic Road Runners Club.
One of the early arrivals for the walk was Louise Panaro of Brewster, a retired employee of the hospital. “I worked at this fine institution for 27 years before retiring last year,” she noted. “Today, I might no longer be working for the hospital. but I am walking for our hospital.”
