Celebration of farming planned for Sunday

Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy Mother Nature!

That’s the invitation from members of the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Putnam Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board for those wishing to participate on Sunday, October 4, in the 4th annual Putnam Farm and Harvest Tour.

Lauri Taylor, who is helping to organize the rain or shine event, said Sunday’s program will take place at the Willow Ridge Farm on Canopus Hollow Road in Putnam Valley.

Taylor said the 11am to 4pm event will feature discussions regarding the “benefits and struggles” of today’s farming along with several demonstrations, activities, animals, farm fresh products, “tastings” and even music. “Those participating will be able to take a pumpkin home just in time for Halloween,” she said.

Additional information is available by calling Taylor at 878-7918 or by visiting the county’s farm tour website at www.putnamcountyny.com/farmtours.
