NRA COURSE
Successful completion of this national course is a basic requirement prior to applying for a state handgun permit in Connecticut, New York and most other states. Students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety principals, shooting fundamentals and an overview of highlighted CT General Statute firearm laws. A national written examination and a live-fire range qualification is conducted at each program. A certificate is provided to each student upon successful completion. Seating is limited. BOO HOUSE
The 'Boo House' will be celebrating its 8th year as a Carmel Halloween treat. The free haunted house has become a neighborhood tradition. It started with father and son hiding behind a tree to greet trick or treaters and has grown each year. The house this year is planned to be over 200 feet long from start to finish and is guaranteed to be a fun experience for the whole family. 'The Boo House' is located at 73 Dingley Road in Lake Carmel, off of Towners Road. It is open on Halloween night only and begins at dusk. There is no definite end time so come early.

Janet Cassidy grew up in New Jersey and moved to the Hudson Valley twenty years ago, when it still seemed like country. Her recent paintings, a series entitled “The Barns of Putnam County” depict structures that may be familiar to many Putnam residents. Ms. Cassidy’s “Barn” series is currently on display in the Third Floor Gallery at the Mahopac Public Library and can be viewed during regular library hours through October 28. The Barns of Putnam County is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization program. In Putnam County the Decentralization program is administered by the Putnam Arts Council. This exhibit will remain on view at the Mahopac Public Library through October 28.
