FIRE PREVENTION WEEK: Brewster firefighters hosted their annual Fire Prevention Week last Sunday. Children and parents learned from the pros how to prevent fires. The afternoon culminated with a “live burn” (above) as a wooden shack constructed on fire department grounds off North Main Street was set ablaze and extinguished by the firefighters. While all this was going on, the Brewster FD was summoned four times for actual emergency calls. On Saturday, the Carmel Fire Department also hosted an open house. See page 18 for story and photos.
