Is Putnam Safest County?
Dear Editor:
In a recent letter, a defender of the current sheriff included the phrase, “Just the Facts.” It would be factual if the sheriff of the last eight years would stop using 2001 as a base year for crime statistics. In case he forgot, Don Smith was also sheriff during 2006- 2008 -- when crime in Putnam jumped 34% and burglary went up 31%. Full Story

On Election Day, we will find many candidates on the ballot including judges. If you are like me, you find it very difficult to decide who to vote for in a judicial position. Carmel Dems Offer Change

I’ve lived in Mahopac for 42 years and I have never seen a town government so disinterested in its citizens as the government is now in the Town of Carmel.
