at halftime, the Mahopac High boys soccer team pushed two more goals in the net in the second half to walk off with a 3-0 victory over Brewster in a League 1-B game played last Friday at Brewster.

MAHOPAC—In a game that featured strong defense from both sides, it was Erin Taylor’s goal with 19:03 remaining in the game that gave the Brewster High field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Mahopac in a League 1-B game played Saturday at Mahopac High School.
Brewster also dropped a 5-0 decision to Ossining in another league game last Thursday on the road. Full Story

With the arrival of October, it’s a brand new month of opening-day sporting opportunities for hunters in the Hudson Valley. The wild turkey season opened to good fall weather, along with, pheasant, grouse, rabbits, and squirrels. Daily limits for pheasant is two per day (either sex), cottontail rabbits and squirrel is 6 per day, and for ruffed grouse it’s 4 per day. Full Story

Rams Stung by Hornets in OT
CARMEL—Brandon Devlin scored two goals, Joe Ilardi added a goal and an assist and Flynn O’Shaughnessy added a goal, as the Carmel High boys soccer team defeated Panas last Wednesday in a League 1-B game played at Carmel. The Rams also battled Lakeland into overtime, but walked off with a 1-0 loss Saturday in Shrub Oak. Full Story
Putnam Valley Girls Soccer Earns First Win
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High girls soccer team ended its week with two disappointing losses after a good start. The Tigers lost Saturday in a League D match up at Croton- Harmon by a score of 5-0, and dropped another league game at Ossining, 7-0, on Thursday. The bright spot of the week came on Tuesday, as the Tigers beat Poughkeepsie 3-1 at home. Full Story

MAHOPAC—After clutch wins over Carmel and John Jay of Cross River kept their playoff hopes alive, the Mahopac High Indians saw their chances of reaching the post-season die Friday night, after a 20-14 loss to RCK in a League AA-North football game at Mahopac. Full Story

PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High football team picked up a 30-18 victory over Irvington Friday night in a non-league game at Putnam Valley.

Carmel Volleyball Team Tops Lakeland 3-0, Falls to Mahopac
CARMEL—The Carmel High volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Lakeland last Wednesday, then dropped a 3-1 decision to Mahopac Friday at home.
Both were League 1-B matches, leaving the Rams at 5-7 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Friday against Mahopac (6-5), the Indians prevailed, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23. Full Story
Putnam Valley Field Hockey Drops Two of Three
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High field hockey team had a long week, losing two of its three games. Last Thursday the Tigers beat Croton-Harmon 3-0. On Wednesday Put Valley took a 3-0 loss to Mamaroneck, and the prior Monday the Tigers lost their first game all season to Suffern by a score of 2-0. Full Story
White Sox Get Win in Overtime
The Kent White Sox 9-year-old boys baseball team played an exciting game Sunday morning against Bedford/ Pound Ridge. The game went into overtime, with Kent emerging the victor in the 7th inning, with a final score of 3-2. The game was tied 0-0, until the bottom of the fourth when bunts by Jacob Rock and Shane Dalrymple put Kent on base. Mike Calcagno got a hit, bringing Rock home. Full Story
