Communi ty Cares Fundraiser Tonight

BY ERIC GROSS

Putnam Community Cares—a nonprofit organization serving families in which the mother is receiving major medical treatments and has children to care for—conducts its autumn fundraiser tonight (Thursday) in Mahopac.

Community Cares founder Amy Sayegh explained that donations “go a long way. A donation of $180 will pay for one month of cleaning for a family, while a $100 contribution will pay for a month of laundry services, and a modest $25 will cover a family’s laundry expenses for a week.”

Sayegh, herself a breast cancer survivor, said services were provided free of charge to clients during their time of need.

On Thursday, starting at 7pm at the Putnam National Golf Club, a dinner is planned, including appetizers and a cash bar and followed by presentations and dancing.

Three special awards will be presented. William Sayegh, a Carmel attorney, will receive the Board of Directors Award. Theresa D’Aquila of Chili’s Restaurant in Baldwin Place will be the recipient of the Distinguished Sponsor Award, and a Survivor’s Spotlight will honor the organization’s honorary luminary, Cathy Grossi.

Last minute reservations can be made by calling Sayegh at 621-CARE (2273).
