Teddy Bear Time at Putnam Health Center
Right: Jamie Imperati of Mahopac sits with her two children—A.J., 2 and Tommy, 1, while members of the Mother’s Club including Tracy Gallagher of Lake Carmel, Lori Levy of Brewster, Mary Ellen Colontonio of Mahopac, and Corrine DiVestea of Carmel are joined by hospital administrators Barbara Tufano, Eileen Courtien, and Michele Piazza to announce Friday’s Teddy Bear Party.
Pajamas will be the order of the day this Friday at Putnam Hospital Center, when the Mother’s Club of PHC hosts its annual Teddy Bear Party.
Corrine DiVestea, president of the club, invited boys and girls to bring their teddy bear, sleeping bag, and pillows, as well as their favorite “pair of p.j.’s” to the hospital’s Michael Weber Auditorium for the event.
Della Ross Ferreri, a resident of Hyde Park who teaches school by day as well as writing children’s books at night, will read her latest book Star of the Show, while leading the children in a series of activities including finger plays and puppet shows.
A teddy bear clinic is also planned. Admission is free and those attending will be treated to face painting, washable tattoos and other children’s events.
Refreshments will be available.
The Mother’s Club was recently recognized by the Putnam Community Services Network by receiving the Ruth Dain Voluntary Service Award for an organization.
DiVestea said her membership was extremely proud of the recognition since “our moms spend a lot of time soliciting for the hospital by bringing in new business as well as providing free services to new moms and their babies.”
Sixteen women comprise the group but DiVestea said, “we are always looking for more.”
Those interested can call Putnam Hospital Center at 279-5711, ext. 2463. Tomorrow’s event takes place from 6-8pm.
