It worked, because the young Olympian scored a strike! More than 125 athletes converged on the Carmel Bowling Lanes last Saturday when Putnam County hosted the Special Olympics Bowling Tournament.

Many of the physically challenged young men and women never threw a bowling ball before but became quickly involved in the competition thanks to their devoted counselors.

James Sullivan, Director of Putnam Recreation Program for the Handicapped, thanked the Hudson Valley Special Olympics organization for its efforts, as well as the organizations and counselors assisting the “special Olympians each and every day of the week.”
