Movie house goes dark
One of Putnam’s two motion picture theaters has gone dark.
Carmel Movieplex 8, located at the Shop Rite Plaza, shut its doors for the final time last week after the theater’s management, Cinema North, headquartered in Rutland, VT, declared bankruptcy and closed all properties as well as its corporate offices. Full Story

Rights proposes clothing bin ban
Southeast Supervisor Michael Rights has called for a clothing bin ban in the greater Brewster area.
Rights’s comments came last week at a news conference in front of a clothing bin located off Route 6. Full Story
