The Tri-State IBM Retirees Club will be holding their next meeting on Thursday, October 29, at 1:30pm at the United Methodist Church, 1176 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. Our President, Rita Hickey, with a panel of several members will lead a discussion of 2010 Health Insurance Options. IBM key dates are: Mailing October 23rd, Registration opens October 29th, Closing November 20th. We will complete our discussion at our November 19th meeting. Putnam County Office for Aging will hold their Annual Harvest Jamboree at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall on Friday, October 30, 2009. All Putnam County Seniors are invited to attend this fun-filled day of refreshments, dancing, and fun. There will be a costume judging contest as well. BOO HOUSE

The 'Boo House' will be celebrating its 8th year as a Carmel Halloween treat. The free haunted house has become a neighborhood tradition. It started with father and son hiding behind a tree to greet trick or treaters and has grown each year. The house this year is planned to be over 200 feet long from start to finish and is guaranteed to be a fun experience for the whole family. 'The Boo House' is located at 73 Dingley Road in Lake Carmel, off of Towners Road. It is open on Halloween night only and begins at dusk. There is no definite end time so come early.

The Nimham Mountain Singers, A Unity Drum, will be performing on Sunday, November 1, 2pm at Mahopac Public Library. This free family concert will feature Native American songs and drumming; registration is requested.

SEaSONaL FLU VaCCINE

The Putnam County Department of Health is planning to hold two public SEASONAL flu vaccine clinics on November 3, 2009 (we are still waiting receipt of the vaccine*). These flu clinics are for seasonal flu vaccinations and will not protect individuals from the H1N1 (swine) flu virus. H1N1 flu vaccination clinics will be held at future dates/times pending vaccine availability.

On Saturday, November 7, Support Connection Breast and Ovarian Cancer Support Services will present a fun, relaxing and informative “Lunch and Learn” workshop for women with cancer: “Guided Imagery for Relaxation and Healing.” The workshop and luncheon will take place from 11am-2:30pm at Coppola’s Restaurant, 825 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, only 25 minutes from Putnam County. SYMPHONY ORCHESTRa The Putnam Symphony Orchestra will open its 33rd season with a performance on Sunday, November 22nd at 3pm. The performance will take place at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center at 50 Foggintown Road off of Farm to Market Road, approximately one half mile north of Route 312. Scheduled repertoire for this concert includes a variety of holiday classics, including Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, selections from The Nutcracker by P. Tschaikowsky, and White Christmas by Irving Berlin. The orchestra will also perform A Celebration of Hanukkah by Howard Rowe, Sean O'Loughlin's Imani (A Kwanzaa Celebration), Baby It's Cold Outside by Frank Loesser, and music from The Polar Express.

The Board of Education of the Mahopac Central School District will hold its Regular Monthly Board Meeting on November 10, 2009.
