Caregivers to be thanked today in Carmel
Family caregivers—those who support and keep loved ones in their own community—will be recognized Thursday at a gala in Carmel.
The get-together is a repeat performance of Monday’s get-together in Putnam Valley when Putnam County Caregivers Support Groups serving residents on the western side of the county were honored for their efforts.
Office for the Aging Geriatric Care Manager Jeanette Baldanza explained the Putnam celebrations were being held in conjunction with National Family Caregivers Month: “One of the most important attributes on being an advocate for a loved one is the willingness and the ability to speak up and keep your eye on the ultimate goal of protecting not only the health and safety of the loved one, but caring for yourself as well.”
Today’s gathering takes place at 12noon at the Carmel Friendship Center located at the Office for the Aging complex on Old Route 6 in Carmel.
Last-minute information is available by calling Baldanza at 845-225-1034, ext. 47121.
Putnam Office for the Aging Director William Huestis thanked the county’s caregivers for the “great job you do every day by keeping your loved ones in the community where they belong.”
