St. James School Celebrates Grandparents
Kayla Vitro, 6, cuddles with her grandpa while reading her favorite book. Grandpa Harry Johnson of Somers called the day “a special treat.”
Grandmas and grandpas were out in large numbers when visiting their grandkids at St. James School in Carmel.
Each fall the school opens its doors for a day when grandparents are welcomed to visit and browse through a book fair while reading to their grandchildren. Refreshments are served and young and old alike admit the day is one of their favorites throughout the entire school year.
Little Charlie Straub, 4, had a double treat last Thursday when both grandmas visited him at school. Grandma Isabel Straub of Pawling reads to the little boy about sharks while Grandma Mary Jane Long, who traveled all the way from Smithtown, Long Island to Putnam County holds Charlie on her lap.
