Putnam Valley Volleyball Knocked Out in First Round of Tournament

by Mike Horton
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High volleyball team went up against Hen Hud in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, and Put Valley lost, 3-0.

Putnam Valley got good news last Wednesday when the Tigers found out they made the sectional playoffs without having a play-in game. That good feeling was quickly dashed by their conference foe - Hen Hud,- the same team the Tigers lost to in their final regular season match. Friday’s game was not much different.

“We had fun all year,” said coach Heather Henkels. “We prepared hard, and they gave their all every game, so it was nice to make the sectionals. Not the ending we would have liked, but Hen Hud is a great team.”

Amanda Davoli had a great game with 14 digs. Amanda Materraso had an ace and two kills, Nicole Turner added a kill, two assists and five digs.

It was a tough end to a tough season for the Tigers.
