Brewster Education Foundation seeks volunteers
Autumn is in full swing, and with the holidays right around the corner the Brewster Education Foundation has issued a call for help.
The foundation’s board of directors currently has openings for those desiring to make a difference by serving the foundation’s missions of philanthropy and education.
Local residents who have a desire to serve the Brewster school community by building partnerships with businesses, participating in fundraising activities, and awarding grants and scholarships, are requested to submit a resume.
Foundation President Dr. Nick Simonelli said of particular interest, but not required, were previous fundraising activities or financial experience at the corporate level. “Individuals are also welcome to participate in foundation work on a project-by-project basis as a means to better become acquainted with activities,” he said.
Inquiries or letters of intent, including a resume, can be e-mailed from the link at the Brewster Education Foundation website—www.bef.org—or can be addressed to the Brewster Education Foundation, Box 320, Brewster, NY 10509. Inquiries can also be made directly to Dr. Simonelli by calling 279- 5099.
On Saturday a brand new 2010 Corvette will be awarded to a lucky ticket holder at a rally at Brady Stannard Motors in Brewster, courtesy of the foundation.
For the past 15 years, the Brewster Education Foundation has used the Corvette raffle as its major fundraiser.
Tickets that cost $100 a piece or three for $250 are still available and can be purchased by calling 279-5051, ext. 304 or on line at BEFCorvette@ bef.org.
The lucky ticket will be selected at 2pm and the winner will have an option of either taking the car or a $30,000 cash prize.
The Brewster Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1984 to fund educational initiatives not otherwise covered in the traditional Brewster School District budgeting system. The foundation is the oldest of its kind in New York State, with program grants, scholarships, and other funds awarded several times each year to a variety of applicants.
