I usually tell my clients that your dog can never have too much exercise. The requirement for exercise is very important to dogs. Some breeds need more exercise than others, but, you should understand why this aspect of your loved one’s life is so important.

The benefits of taking your dog for a walk or bringing them to a park or even letting them swim in your pool are almost immeasurable.

The obvious benefit is their weight. I see so many extremely overweight dogs that come into my store and invariably I find out they are getting very little exercise.

Dogs can not adjust their own weight without your help. You have to make sure to restrict the treats, don’t over feed them and take them on frequent walks. This simple exercise not only benefits the dogs overall health but it also helps the owner.

Taking your dog for a walk shouldn’t be all about them going to the bathroom. This is a common mistake linking the exercise with a brief walk to relive themselves. Have

the walking experience all about the exercise and if they need to go, then fine, but don’t stop at that point. This is an exercise program and when you are done your dog should be tired. By accomplishing this you will improve not only their health but their overall disposition. Dogs that lack sufficient exercise can become aggressive, overly hyper, have chewing fits on all your belongings and difficult control. Sometimes it is easier to play fetch with

your dog to get them to

expend enough energy and get the required exercise. You should play until your best friend calls it quit, not you!
