CORNELL COOPERaTIVE

The 66th Annual Business Meeting of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County will be held on Thursday November 12, 2009 at the Centennial Golf Club, 185 John Simpson Road in Carmel at 6:30 p.m. This business meeting is free, open to all and will include the election of members to the Board of Directors, and presentation of enrollee certificates. Cornell Cooperative Extension Association participants of record, who are county residents, age 18 and older, are eligible to vote at this meeting. November 13, 2009 at the Mahopac High School, Pro Wrestling comes to Mahopac 7:00pm Bell time, Doors open at 6:15 All Proceeds to benefit Pack 271 cub scouts. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at Lucia’s Pizzeria, Secor Road in Mahopac or at the door. WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Super Fly Snuka and WWF Superstar the Patriot will be in attendance.

ALL THE WORLD’S a STaGE

“All the world’s a stage” as PCDC announces its second dinner theater production, bringing a raucous night of original sketches and improvisational theater to the Croton Falls Community Church on November 14 at 7 pm.

Directed by Rebecca Rabinowitz, the production features the Encore Discovery Center Players, a drama group open to all high school students, which is an offshoot of PCDC’s popular theater program. The Encore Players include Charlie Adams, Patrick Barton, Ben Bisogno, Rose Bisogno, Nick Burns, Matthew Newman, and Beth Tolmach.

Doors open at 7pm for a buffet dinner provided by Gino’s Trattoria in Mahopac. The show immediately follows. The audience will be encouraged to participate in this highly interactive show. Please note that the show is recommended for adults and older children.

Advance sale tickets are $20/adults ($18/members) and $15/students (under 21) and seniors and include dinner and the show. Tickets sold at the door are $25. Dolores (Dodie) Beal Stephens brings her new book, Tonetta Lake, to life in a lecture at the Southeast Museum on Saturday, November 14 at 10:30am. Come hear the tales of growing up in Brewster during the Great Depression through World War II. Tonetta Lake is available for sale in the museum gift shop for $27.00. HaRVEST FESTIVaL

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 26 Prospect Street, Brewster, NY. 9am to 4pm, Saturday, November 14. Free!! The Harvest is here and so is the St. Andrew’s Church Harvest Festival. It will be a day of celebrating the foods of Autumn and a chance to start enjoying the Holidays! The event will feature hand-crafted items to help you get a jump on your Christmas gift list. There will be plenty of hand-made baked goods, jellies, and preserves, to help you set a wonderful table for Thanksgiving. This year, we will be making frozen apple pies you can purchase to take home and bake. The Festival will feature a sale of wonderful, quality hand made items ranging from knitted and crocheted hats to items made from polymer clay to hand-crafted jewelry. Luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year, the menu will feature soups, chili, and hot dogs. For more information, call the church at 279-4325.

Saturday November 14 2009 the Carmel Fire Dept. Auxiliary will be hosting their annual holiday penny social at the fire house. Doors open at 6pm, calling begins at 7pm. Lot's of prizes to be won! Refreshments will be served.

This free workshop, “Are You Ready For Change?” will begin on Saturday, November 14, from 2-4 pm, and will continue on November 21, December 5 and December 12. The program is geared towards nannies, caregivers, housekeepers, single mothers, and people searching for ways to improve their financial and emotional well-being. Cassandra Robinson, CEO of Baadd Nanny, LLC, and Maximus Women International Network, Inc., has designed this program based on her own experiences a single woman who was on her own at a very young age. Ms. Robinson hopes to share her experiences, her pursuit of happiness and her success stories so that others can realize change in their lives. Registration for this workshop is required. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County is planning a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Chili’s in the Somers Common Shopping Center Route 6 & Route 118, in Baldwin Place. This event, and 100 percent of the proceeds, will go to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County to support their 4-H Youth Development, Environmental and Community Vitality Education Programs.

GETTING YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER

The Mahopac Public Library will host a seminar entitled, “Getting Your House in Order,” on Monday, November 16 at 7pm. Mr. Anthony Anzalone, a representative from Rose Hills Memorial Park, will offer a guide to pre-planning which can give families time to explore options for a ceremony, discuss costs, and set up a plan with professionals. He will also discuss having a will, a living will, advance directives and a health care proxy, making your cemetery arrangements, veterans’ benefits, social security, and investments. JOB SEaRCH WORkSHOP

On Monday, November 16th at 2:30 pm Liz Taylor of the New York State Department of Labor will present a free job search workshop at the Desmond- Fish Library in Garrison. COIN SOCIETY

The Croton River Numismatic Society of Carmel, New York (a coin club) will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, November 17, in the Guideposts Cafeteria, 39 Seminary Hill Road in Carmel at 7:30pm.

All Senior Citizens in the Brewster Central School District are invited to attend a special luncheon on Thursday, November 19, at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School at 31 Foggintown Road in Brewster. Lunch will be served at 11am with a special student presentation immediately following.

This complimentary luncheon is hosted by John F. Kennedy, Brewster Central School District, provided by their wonderful Food Service Department, and sponsored by the Brewster Teachers Association, and is open to all Southeast Seniors!
