ERIC GROSS One thousand students representing each of Putnam’s six school systems, as well as a dozen others in Westchester, are now better informed about college and technical school choices thanks to the Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES.

Forty colleges and technical schools were represented at the BOCES annual College Fair last week when representatives of two- and four-year schools, culinary and art institutes, technical schools, State University of New York campuses, the City University of New York, and branches of the military and law enforcement agencies converged on the BOCES Yorktown campus.

Art Buchman, BOCES College and Career Coordinator, expressed delight that the fair has grown over the years: “More and more Tech Center students are going to college. Even fields such as auto repair have become so much more technical that they require some post-secondary education.”

Amy Sposato, an upperclassman at Carmel High School, called the most helpful aspect of the fair: “Collecting recruiters’ informational materials and speaking to a real live person instead of using a college Web site.”
