’Pac Wins Cheer Competition

BY ERIC GROss

The Mahopac High School Indians do their community proud on the football gridiron, basketball court, and baseball diamond each year, but as the old saying goes: “Behind every man there is a good woman.”

In Mahopac, how about a team of some two-dozen young ladies, who earlier this month took top honors in the Reach for the Stars Cheerleading Competition held at Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak.

The cheerleaders brought home two trophies—first place and grand champs.

Senior cheerleaders Johanna Gaine and Ilana Nathanson met with Mahopac’s new Superintendent of Schools Thomas Manko last Friday when the trophies were turned over to the school.

Manko congratulated the women for a “job well done. You do us proud. This is just another example of how our students excel in Mahopac.”
