Carmel Rotarians Feed the Hungry

ERIC GROSS Rotary International’s motto of “service above self” was evident last week when members of the Carmel Rotary donned aprons and chef hats while visiting the Putnam Community Action Program (CAP) soup kitchen in Brewster.

Rotarian chefs Anthony Maccarini, Al Lotrecchiano, Denise Brown, Lisa Gold, Charles Stein, and Don Grenier whipped up a delicious pot of beef stew as well as homemade dessert.

CAP Director Judy Callahan described the apple crisp as “out of this world. Our clients loved it.”

The soup kitchen operates throughout the year and Callahan noted when the weather starts getting chilly, “our client base increases, because,e for most of those attending, the hot meal goes a long way.”
