BREWSTER—In an amazing end to an amazing season, a contingent of four Brewster swimmers competed at the state/Federation championships last weekend at the Webster Aquatic Center at Webster-Schroeder High School, and came home with a fistful of state championships – including one for the whole team. MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High football team was certainly hoping to get into the playoffs and cause a little trouble for someone this fall, but it wasn’t to be.
The Indians came out of the gate slow, and that hurt their chances of reaching the playoffs. Mahopac was 0-2 and hadn’t put a point on the board going into an unusual week 3 matchup against Carmel. Full Story
Brewster Boys Close Out Season at Federation Meet
Boys and girls teams both enjoy standout seasons
BREWSTER—The Brewster High boys cross country team closed out the 2009 season at the Federation meet at Bowdoin Park last week, taking 18th out of 28 teams.
North Rockland was first, Burnt Hills took second, and Warwick Valley was third. Full Story
Bears Struggled with Consistency During 2-6 Season
Rubino, Santiago named All-Section HM; six earn post-season honors
BREWSTER—It wasn’t the season the Brewster High football team was hoping for.
After a rousing walk over Beacon in the season opener, it all went downhill for the Bears, whose only other win of the year came against Byram Hills.
Brewster was shut out of the playoffs again, and closed out the season with a loss to Pearl River and a final record of 2-6. Full Story
Rams Self-Destructed Down Important Stretch Run
Shilling, Sadowski, Alers earn All-Section honors; nine grab post-season honors
CARMEL—No team wants to go down the way it went for the Carmel High football team this fall.
The Rams had their fate in their hands, and appeared headed to a Class AA semifinal, but self-destructed during a crucial time in a playoff game and ended up going down to Arlington in the Class AA quarterfinals. Full Story
Putnam Valley Wraps Up a Tough Season
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High football team started this season off with a 2-0 record, but closed out the year at 3-5, the same record as last year. Full Story
Putnam Valley Field Hockey Team Finishes a Strong Season
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High field hockey team finished its season with a record of 15-4, and reached the Class C final, where the Tigers lost a 3-2 overtime thriller to Bronxville.
It was a tough loss, but coach Toniann Cortina was anything but disappointed. Full Story
Indians Turned in Strong Season on Soccer Field
Sparozic named All- Section, Strzepka earns ASHM
MAHOPAC—It was a solid fall season, with an unfortunate early ending in the playoffs, for the Mahopac High boys soccer team.
The Indians had one of their better teams in recent years, finished second in League 1-B, and made the sectionals as the No. 8 seed, before falling to No. 9 Suffern in the first round. Mahopac closed out the season at 10-5-2. Full Story
