Festival on the Lake Returns
Carmel’s Festival on the Lake takes place on Saturday, and last weekend a small army of volunteers decorated 80 trees that now adorn the Lake Gleneida shoreline in downtown Carmel.

Sanitation worker injured in freak crash
A Kent sanitation worker was injured early Tuesday in a freak crash in Lake Carmel.
Kent Police said Robert Huestis, 52, a veteran town employee, was beginning his garbage route for the Lake Carmel Sanitation District around 5:30am. Full Story

Jambor: Tough times ahead for schools
The December Brewster Board of Education meeting alternated between anger at Albany and pride in the accomplishments of Brewster’s students and athletes. After brief opening remarks from board members, during which the new website for J.F.K. Elementary school was unveiled, President Stephen Jambor expressed worry that he was spoiling the mood. Green Chimneys makes food baskets for the elderly
On November 19, Stan Kahn, with the Green Chimneys School, delivered ten overflowing food baskets to the Putnam County Office for the Aging to be distributed to senior citizens within the county.
Mr. Joseph Brehm’s class collected all the trimmings and goodies to make up the beautiful and nutritious baskets. Full Story
Cleaners Collects Coats for CAP
Following the busiest Thanksgiving basket distribution in its history, the Putnam Community Action Program (CAP) begins its winter coat drive this week, and a Carmel merchant is once again stepping up to the plate. Full Story
Bring Toys to PFCU PREPARE
Putnam Federal Credit Union (PFCU) is proud to participate in the annual “Toys for Tots” toy drive once again. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted at either PFCU branch from November 15 to December 15, 2009. Full Story
