Leibell and Ball exchange charges
Senator Vincent Leibell and Assemblyman Greg Ball have exposed their deep personal rivalry since Ball announced his decision to run for the Senator’s seat, rather than continue his campaign for Congress. Leibell has charged Ball with waving a white flag of surrender, while Ball counters that Leibell has enabled corruption and sown dissension in the Republican party. Full Story

Moms throughout the region are supporting our troops overseas by knitting.
Organized by the Semper Fi Parents of the Hudson Valley and Lisa Duggan-Santomero of Brewster, whose son is a Marine, women have been spending the holidays knitting and crocheting helmet liners, scarves, hand warmers, and gaiters. Full Story
Mortgage Tax Receipts Going Up Ball
There may be light at the end of the tunnel. While Putnam’s sales tax revenue continues to falter, local municipalities received some good news this week in the form of increasing mortgage tax revenue. Each of Putnam’s six towns and three villages will be receiving increases in mortgage tax income for the six-month period ending September 30. Full Story
Holiday Hospitality at George’s
The tradition continued—for the 27th consecutive year, George’s Place, a popular restaurant in downtown Carmel, opened its doors to provide a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner for some 50 area residents who had no place to go for the holidays. Full Story
